Privacy Policy for Video Surveillance


The purpose of the Privacy Policy for video surveillance is to provide the customers and suppliers of E. Gulbis Laboratory (hereinafter – EGL) with information about the purpose and scope of the personal data processing, protection and retention period, when processing video images from the video surveillance cameras in the main building of EGL in 366 Brīvības Street, Riga.

Personal data controller

Personal data controller shall be SIA “E. Gulbja laboratorija”, registration No. 42803008077, registered address: Brīvības gatve 366, Riga. We hereby confirm that all personal data that we have obtained from the video cameras, will be processed in accordance with the requirements of the personal data protection laws and regulations of the European Union and Latvia.

Purpose and legal basis for processing personal data

The purpose of the retrieval of personal data from the video surveillance equipment is the prevention or detection of criminal offences related to the protection of property and the protection of vital human interests. The legal basis for the processing of personal data  processing of personal data is necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests pursued by EGL (Article 6(1)f) of the GDPR).

Personal data categories

Image of a person located in the area of detection of the video surveillance camera, place of image recording (room, place of location of the camera), date and time of the recording shall be obtained from the video surveillance equipment within the area of visibility thereof, without performing the identification of a person.

Data, in cases stipulated by law, may be received from the authorised employees of EGL by: pre-trial investigatory authorities, subjects of operational activities, state security institutions, prosecutor’s office (to obtain evidence in criminal cases), courts (to obtain evidence in the examined cases).

Video surveillance data retention period

Data retrieved by video surveillance shall be retained in the video archives for not more than 30 days, and they shall be erased afterwards, except for in the cases when a security incident has occurred.

If a security incident has occurred, the video surveillance data shall be retained till the completion of the security incident investigation (for example, till the moment when the court judgment has taken effect).

Video materials ordered from the video archive, shall be retained in the video repository for up to two years (in the case of detection of a conflict, hooligan actions, etc.), unless the basis for extension of the term has been detected.

Data safety

Your data shall be stored on safe servers in the European Economic Area, by taking all the necessary technological and organisational measures, in order to ensure the safety of your data. It shall be the duty of the specialists involved in data processing to preserve confidentiality with respect to the obtained information.

Rights of the data subject

You shall have the rights to access your personal data, if it does not infringe upon the rights of other persons. Request must be written and sent by post or submitted in person at E. Gulbis Laboratory office, at Brīvības gatve 366, Riga, by presenting a personal identification document, agreeing upon the visit in advance by e-mail datuspecialists@egl.lv or calling the telephone number +371-67801936.

You shall have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data State Inspectorate concerning the processing of personal data.
